At ganet's adventure school the also plant different crops which the learners eat at the break time since many children come from far to the school and some are ophans.

Best ever exam pass rates for Ganet's learners in 2018!

September is a nerve-wracking time of year for students around the world as they await their exam results. There were celebrations at Ganet’s Adventure School in September 2018 when the Primary School Leaving Certificate results were published, as eleven out of twelve learners passed the exams, well ahead of the national pass rate of 79%. Getting into a government secondary school can be lottery even for those who pass their exams, due to a shortage of places and an inconsistent selection process. Frustratingly, this year none of the school’s Standard 8 learners were accepted into government secondary schools for the September term, though they have been promised a chance to apply to start in the January intake instead. The other option for parents who can afford it is to go to a private secondary school – six of the school’s Standard 8 class took entrance exams for and are now going to the Anglican secondary school in Nkhotakota. Nationally only around 38% of those who pass their PSLC

Introducing the school minibus

Many of the Ganet’s Adventure School learners walk long distances to access learning; for some that journey is too long. Others may not be able to join the school because of physical disability. The school purchased its own minibus to enable its learners to get to school each day on time and in most weather conditions. Priority is transport for the learners but there is the opportunity to generate income to repay the loan from the charity, through community use of the bus with the designated driver. The minibus helps us to increase the enrolment at the school, benefit the learners and contribute to increasing the financial self-reliance of the school. Looking back to 2017: a new set of textbooks plus teacher training

The Parents’ Association of Alleyn’s School in the UK fundraised for Ganet’s Adventure School, at their Founder’s Day ce lebration, on July 1 st , 2017. The donations were used to support the participation, of Standard 1 to 4 teachers at the Malawi primary school, in the National Reading Programme, being offered by the Ministry of Education. This 4 year project was supported throughout Malawi by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Standard 1 teachers took 2 weeks of training during their Easter holidays. This training was funded by our charity. All Standard 1 to 4 teachers will be given 6 weeks of training over the next four years. New textbooks and teachers’ guides are to be published.
